Today’s world we live in is very diverse, everywhere an individual looks they will find something different. From sunrise to sunset, the majority of the world comes alive; people go to work and people go out do their daily activities. In short, during the daytime, people live their lives. Between sunset and sunrise, the majority of the world comes to a standstill and halts. People are back home from work, businesses are closed, and the highways are less busy. People tend to ignore nighttime as part of their lives, they think nighttime is just a period between today’s daylight and tomorrow’s daylight. At night, if exploring, an individual will notice that the world actually becomes for alive at night. This opens a whole new world in the realms of photography.

As a photographer, my goal in my photography is to bring out the beauty in everyday life that people may take for granted. To photograph at night, there are different protocols a photographer must follow in order to get a good shot. Tools such as a tripod will aid at shooting a night photograph. While not always necessary, a tripod will give you the greatest flexibility to get the angles you need while keeping your camera steady for those long exposures. Another great tool to bring for night photography is a flashlight. Sometimes you’ll want to draw attention to or simply lighten up an important part of the foreground which is too dark. However, I will argue the most important tool of them all is simply your imagination. Your imagination can bring out things in the world that people may not see in their everyday lives. The above photo of the Christmas lights in a tree shows the macro beauty of a lit Christmas tree. During the daytime, a Christmas tree shows no life, as you can’t see its unique beauty until night. The above photo of RMC represents one’s imagination and how with the right tools and camera settings, we can use everyday objects and create something diverse only able to be seen at night.
