Looking through the trees as the sun rises on a mountainside and waiting for the perfect shot as a herd of elk walk by; hiking through a desert on a cold clear night to find the perfect shot of the moon against the landscape; paddling a canoe on the river waiting to capture a tiger appear from the depths of the rainforest; photography is much more than just being at the right place at the right time.
Photography is an adventure, one that can take your breathe away more than anything else in the world. The end goal of photography is to capture the perfect shot, but the journey to that shot can be breathtaking amongst itself. Lots of planning and preparation goes into a single capture, and sure there are photographs out there that are from being at the right place at the right time.
I appreciate photography because it makes me appreciate the small beauties of life that can be easily walked passed. Taking the time to find a good photograph opens your eyes to what the world has to offer. In only a year, photography has taken me on countless breathtaking adventures and the best part about it, I get to keep those memories forever on stills.
The attached article touches briefly on some of the adventures photography offers and what to look out for when trying to find the perfect shot.
